Jay Gershwin

Jay is a pianist, vocalist, and bandleader with over a decade of experience performing at events across the UK. From creating a sophisticated atmosphere with smooth background music to leading a high-energy band that keeps the dance floor full, Jay delivers world-class live music tailored to any occasion.

He studied jazz and classical piano at the University of Liverpool before earning a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he was also awarded the Mary Ryan Prize for Composition. Drawing inspiration from jazz legends such as Nina Simone, Bill Evans, and Keith Jarrett, Jay is known for his harmonically rich and melodically expressive interpretations of the Great American Songbook—praised by leading authorities on 20th-century piano performance. His repertoire spans stylish swing and Latin standards, performed both as a soloist and with his ensemble of first-class musicians, carefully selected from the UK jazz scene. Past clients and venues include The Midland Hotel, Gleneagles, Lord’s Cricket Ground, and King’s College, Cambridge.

In addition to his work as a performer, Jay’s compositions have been showcased by prominent contemporary ensembles at renowned venues including Wigmore Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, and the Courtauld Gallery.
